Dr. Hargrave was my mother’s neurologist for a very long time. She had a stoke last year. She lost many memories and functionality with the stroke, but she came alive when she saw HER DOCTOR in the hospital following the stroke event. She stayed in the hospital for over a month and regained some of her functioning but not enough to really return to her normal life. Four months later my mom had an accident and was rushed back to the hospital. I knew she’d want her doctor to know that she was there. When he heard she was there, he stopped in to check on her, outside of his normal rounds. It isn’t easy to fake emotion; but I’ve NEVER seen a physician fight to HOLD BACK emotion like he did when he recognized that there was little hope for her survival. I realize that patients die every day. Mom’s passing was inevitable. Doctors care about their patients. They do their best to help their patients not only live but have quality of life. THIS doctor, however, goes above and beyond the call of the oath for his patients!!
