The Michael R. Boh Center for Child Development is pleased to announce our new family-centered Autism Assessment Clinic. This clinic is designed to assess children ages 2–4 years of age for suspected autism spectrum disorder using evidence-based assessment tools from multiple disciplines of child development. The child will be seen by a team of specialists on the day of their visit. The team will consist of a medical developmental specialist, a psychologist, a speech pathologist and a social worker, allowing for a complete evaluation. Parents and guardians are important members of the team providing information to the physicians and participating in the assessment. The team will review developmental and family history before the visit, and then interview guardians about their child’s development, language skills, play skills, social skills and behaviors while also directly interacting with the child. After the evaluation is complete, the results will be shared with the family along with individual recommendations to support the child’s development. A social worker will assist families in connecting with resources to follow through.
Ochsner did more than build a state-of-the-art space – we built a team of experts, all leaders in their fields and passionate about being part of world-class facility that’s truly making a difference.
