Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)

Whether you are starting your career as an Advanced Practice Provider or already have substantial experience, you are invited to explore a life-changing career with Ochsner Health System. Employing over 500 Advanced Practice Providers (Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Certified Nurse Midwives and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists) makes Ochsner the single largest employer of APPs in Louisiana, with utilization in more than 90 specialties and sub-specialties. As a respected member of our health care team, you'll partner with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and administrators who are dedicated to Ochsner's mission to Serve, Heal, Lead, Educate and Innovate.

Consistently recognized as one of the best professions in America, Advanced Practice Providers also represent one of the fastest-growing jobs in the nation. As a result of our APPs here at Ochsner, the healthcare system is stronger. Due to our APPs, more patients get access to high-quality, cost-effective care.

The Ochsner Health System APPs care for and heal our patients in many different settings, from the OR and hospital floor to the clinic office. Our patients receive care from APPs every day, night and weekend, 365 days a year. As an Advanced Practice Provider at Ochsner, you will provide patient-centered, team-based healthcare that reflects the dignity and worth of each patient, while upholding the Ochsner standard of excellence. Your expertise is valued by patients and by your multidisciplinary care team members.

If you are in a graduate nursing program, your program must have program approval to offer clinical educational with the Louisiana State Board of Nursing in order to complete a rotation at any site within Ochsner Health System. Ochsner does not assist with this process.

See LSBN website for SON information: http://www.lsbn.state.la.us/Education/SchoolsofNursing.aspx

Courses that require a leadership or nonclinical rotation do not need LSBN SON approval. However, programs that require clinical training and access to patients (i.e. APRN programs) do need LSBN clinical approval.

For both graduate nursing and physician assistant programs, it is required that your school must have a clinical contract agreement with Ochsner secondary and LSBN approval. Clinical contract agreements are performed on a case-by-case basis.

If you are interested in applying for one of the Physician Assistant, PhD, DNSc, DNP, or MSN rotations, please email APPstudentrequests@ochsner.org for graduate student requests.
