Catherine Gretchen, MD, practices pediatric cardiac critical care at Ochsner Children's Hospital. Dr. Gretchen has expertise in the critical care of children with congenital and acquired heart disease. Along with a multidisciplinary team including pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons and pediatric cardiologists, she provides comprehensive care of patients while they are in the pediatric CVICU.

Dr. Gretchen earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2011. She is board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. She completed her Pediatrics training at the Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore, Maryland. She completed fellowships in Critical Care Medicine and Cardiac Critical Care Medicine at the UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Gretchen is dedicated to addressing the medical needs of her patients with critical cardiac disease while understanding individual concerns and goals. She has a special interest in quality improvement in the pediatric CVICU. She has been practicing at Ochsner since 2019.
