Dr. Estes, a gynecologic oncologist, recently joined the Ochsner team as section head of gynecologic oncology at both the Jefferson highway and Baptist campuses. A native of Louisiana, Dr. Estes did his undergraduate studies at LSU, and received his MD from LSU Medical School in New Orleans. He completed residency and fellowship training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he was on the faculty for 5 years.
Dr. Estes has particular interests and expertise in the surgical and medical management of ovarian cancer as well as in complex robotic surgeries for both malignant and benign indications. In addition, he has experience in the identification and management of hereditary cancer syndromes, including those caused by mutations in the BRCA genes. He is currently accepting patients at both Benson Cancer Center as well as Baptist.
