Dr. Laura McCormick was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she graduated from Isidore Newman High school. She attended college at Vanderbilt University in Nashville where she majored in biomedical engineering. She returned to New Orleans to attend medical school at Louisiana State University School of Medicine and then went on to complete a residency in family medicine at the Swedish Family Medicine Residency in Littleton, Colorado.

During her residency training, Dr. McCormick pursued interests in medical Spanish though an elective rotation in Ecuador and served as resident representative to the patient safety committee. After concluding her residency training and obtaining her board certification, she worked for almost three years at a family medicine clinic in Littleton, Colorado, providing primary care to patients of all ages.

Dr. McCormick is committed to patient education and empowering them to take an active role in their health. She strongly believes that good primary care is the foundation of good medical care and enjoys working with her patients on preventive health measures. She is happy to have returned home to the greater New Orleans area with her husband and two young boys and to join the Ochsner primary care team at the family medicine clinic in Kenner.

Asistió a la Universidad de Vanderbilt en Nashville, Tennessee, donde se especializó en Ingeniería Biomédica. Regresó a Nueva Orleans para asistir a la Facultad de Medicina; luego pasó a completar una residencia en Medicina Familiar en la Residencia de Medicina Familiar Sueca en Littleton, Colorado; a las afueras de Denver. La Dr. McCormick está comprometida con la educación del paciente y dándoles el poder de tomar un papel activo en su salud. Cree firmemente que una buena atención primaria es la base de una buena atención médica y le gusta trabajar con sus pacientes sobre las medidas preventivas de salud. Está feliz de regresar a casa; el área metropolitana de Nueva Orleans con su esposo y dos hijos pequeños para formar parte del equipo de atención primaria en la Clínica de Medicina Familiar de Ochsner en Kenner.
