Dr. Maged Guirguis serves as the system chair of the interventional pain management department at Ochsner Health. He also serves as an associate professor for the University of Queensland-Ochsner Clinical School of Medicine and as a clinical assistant professor for Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. Guirguis received his medical degree from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. After completing an internal medicine residency in his home country, Dr. Guirguis joined the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation for a research fellowship in pain medicine. Following that, he completed an additional residency in anesthesiology and clinical fellowship in pain management at the same institute. Dr. Guirguis is triple-board-certified in anesthesiology, pain medicine and headache management. He has published numerous research papers and book chapters as well as presented various studies and peer reviewed abstracts on pain medicine at both national and international meetings. He serves as a faculty member and meeting chairman for the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. Dr. Guirguis also serves as a faculty member of the pain educational committee for the American Society of Anesthesiology, and in both the research and education committees for the International and North American Neuromodulation Society. Dr. Guirguis has special interest in neuromodulation and ultrasound guided interventions for chronic back and joint pain.
