Biography
Dr. Rachel Dauterive received her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. She then completed her internship in internal medicine at Ochsner, followed by a residency in preventive medicine at Tulane University. She also holds a master of public health degree from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
Dr. Dauterive has been on staff at Ochsner since April 2019. She is currently practicing obesity medicine with the Comprehensive Weight Loss Program at Ochsner Medical Center, where she helps patients achieve their best healthy weight with a combination of pharmacotherapy, nutrition, physical activity and behavior change.

She is so serious looking all the time. Sometimes I wonder if she likes her profession or is it just weight loss topics. She seems friendly though. Maybe just an off day or a long week.

Dr. Dauterive is always a pleasure to be seen by. She is informative, knowledgeable and not only shows that she cares about patients welfare but demonstrates it when going over my personal health care and when offering a path forward that includes my input with her professional opinion. I only wish that there were more Doctors at Oschner that possessed her abilities and patient people skills! I would like to recommend that Dr. Dauterive not only be recognized but rewarded for how she goes above the patient care that I normally receive from other doctors that I've experienced at Oschner.
