Timothy Short, MD is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon at Ochsner Health in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has more than 20 years of experience caring for children and adults with a wide range of foot and ankle conditions. He earned undergraduate degrees in Biology and Psychology from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida before completing his medical education at the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami, Florida.

Dr. Short completed a three-year surgical residency at Millcreek Community Hospital and the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) in Erie, Pennsylvania. He was then selected for advanced fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.

Following his fellowship, Dr. Short spent 10 years practicing with Carondelet Medical Group in Tucson, Arizona. In 2016, he joined Northwest Allied Physicians, where he helped establish the Foot and Ankle Sports Medicine and Peripheral Neuropathy Institute. He joined Ochsner Health in New Orleans in January 2019.

Dr. Short is board certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) and is a Fellow of the Academy of Extremity Nerve Surgeons (AENS). He treats a broad range of foot and ankle problems, with particular interests in sports injuries, tendon disorders, peripheral nerve conditions and neuropathy, complex foot and ankle reconstruction, and limb preservation. He believes in taking the time to understand each patient’s concerns and developing an individualized treatment plan that may include both nonsurgical and surgical options.

Dr. Short has been recognized as a highly rated physician on RateMDs, including recognition as a “Best Doctor,” and has also received high patient ratings on Healthgrades. He also earned an Executive Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, further expanding his experience in healthcare leadership and patient-centered care.
