Creating an endowment or contributing to an existing one provides Ochsner Lafayette General with a permanent, self-sustaining source of income to support programs and priorities that impact thousands of patients. An endowed fund can be designated toward the unrestricted fund that supports Ochsner Lafayette General’s highest priorities, or to a specific purpose or area of care that is meaningful to you.

There are a few ways to support Ochsner Lafayette General with an endowment. Read about them below or contact the Foundation office at 337-571-0080 to create your own endowment or learn more.

Make a Gift to the Foundation

David Callecod Administrative Fellowship Endowment Fund

This fund endows an annual administrative fellow at Ochsner Lafayette General. The endowment was established in honor of David Callecod, who served as President & CEO of Lafayette General Health for over 11 years. The endowment created by business colleagues and friends honors his contributions toward building Lafayette General Health into a leading Regional Medical Center of Acadiana prior to its merge with Ochsner Health.

Elder Outreach Master of Nursing Endowed Fund

The endowment fund, established by Elder Outreach in 2020, enables students pursuing or interested in pursuing nursing master’s degrees. The endowment grant will potentially fund any full- or part-time student who meets eligibility requirements and is enrolled in a Master of Science in nursing concentrations. The Elder Outreach Master of Nursing endowment will become a perpetual source of funding for graduate nursing student scholarships.

Jessie Naquin Pancreatic Cancer Endowment Fund

This fund was established by Kevin Naquin in memory of his father, Jessie Naquin, for the purpose of supporting pancreatic cancer research. Naquin passed away on December 3, 2018, at the age of 66 of pancreatic cancer.

Marnie and Casey Hoyt Ochsner Medical Teaching Hospital Endowed Fund

Established in 2020 by Marnie and Casey Hoyt, this endowment fund supports the stability and continued growth of the Ochsner Medical Teaching Hospital at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.

Mayci Breaux Radiologic Technology Endowed Fund

The Mayci Breaux Radiologic Technology Endowed Fund awards scholarships to local high school students enrolled in a radiologic technology program at a Louisiana institution. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above at the time of application. The scholarship began in 2015 with an anonymous donor in Montana, just one day after the Grand Theatre shooting in Lafayette. Numerous donations followed, including many from Ochsner Lafayette General employees, helping the fund grow to $20,000. After learning about the launch of the scholarship, comedian Amy Schumer donated $25,000, more than doubling the fund.

Nursing Specialties Apprenticeship Endowed Fund

The fund was established by Nursing Specialties to provide financial assistance for tuition and related educational expenses to nursing students enrolled in a nursing program, offered at any community across the state.

Ochsner Lafayette General Teaching Hospital Endowment

The Ochsner Lafayette General Teaching Hospital Endowment delivers leadership, clinical and administrative guidance to our students, researchers, faculty, physicians and clinical staff at every level. Our facility is located on the main campus of Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. Funds provide the resources, instruction and academic support needed for successful outcomes. The mission of the Center for Academic Excellence is to educate a professional workforce that is prepared to provide safe and efficient care in an evolving healthcare delivery system.  

VieMed Respiratory Therapy Endowment Fund

The Viemed Respiratory Therapy Endowment Fund was established in 2020 to support the stability and continued growth of the Respiratory Therapy Department at Ochsner Lafayette General for research, scholarships and other program support.

William C. Broadhurst Ochsner Acadia General ER Endowment Fund

The William C. Broadhurst Endowed Fund was established in 2017 in loving memory of William C. “Bill” Broadhurst, who had been a healthcare advocate. The fund benefits the Ochsner Acadia General Emergency Room to provide funding for medical services, patient assistance, technology and equipment, and facility improvements. Friends and family members funded this endowment to honor his memory and contributions toward helping others.
