Neuro Rendering p3

A new home for Ochsner Neurosciences

Scheduled to open in late 2026, the Debra H. and Robert J. Patrick Neuroscience Institute will bring Ochsner Health’s nationally recognized neuroscience programs together in one 132,000-square-foot facility, creating a seamless, patient-centered experience. By integrating comprehensive outpatient neuroscience care, behavioral health services, integrative therapies and advanced rehabilitation under one roof, Ochsner is establishing a premier destination for neurological care in the Gulf South. The $120 million investment will expand access to leading-edge treatment and make the institute the only neuroscience facility of its kind between Houston and Atlanta, positioning Ochsner to serve more patients across the region with the most advanced, coordinated care.

Our new facility will offer:

Suquet Family Therapy and Wellness Center: An innovative rehab space with board certified physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech language pathologists who specialize in the treatment of neurologic disorders. Equipped with the newest rehab technologies including body weight support, functional electrical stimulation, and biofeedback tools intended to give patients every advantage to develop meaningful functional change and re-establish independence in their daily life.

Parker Family BioDesign Lab: An embedded innovation studio where clinicians, engineers, designers, entrepreneurs, and industry partners collaborate to rapidly translate ideas into real world neurological solutions. Leveraging augmented, virtual, and mixed reality alongside medical 3D printing, the lab supports patient care, medical education, and care delivery innovation within a live clinical environment. Purposefully designed to attract and support industry collaboration, the Parker Family BioDesign Lab positions the Ochsner Neuroscience Institute as a preferred partner for piloting, co-development, validation, clinical integration, and scaling of technology enabled, clinician-led, patient centric neurological treatments.

Transforming lives through neuroscience

  • Ashley's inspiring story: Recovering from a stroke in her early 40s

Ashley Franklin Keene was only in her early 40s when a blood clot in her brain and blockages in her carotid artery caused her to suffer a stroke. Ashley was flown from Jena, LA to Ochsner Medical Center – New Orleans for emergency surgery, where she was discharged only four days later.

Ashley says, "I was walking at Ochsner two days after my stroke and eating the next day and I started talking two months later. Now I walk and talk and play piano every day. I'm trying and improving every day. I have a different purpose now and I want to encourage others who have had strokes to take it one day at a time."
