Care designed with kids, not just for them

Ochsner Children's has launched a Kids' Council, a first-of-its-kind advisory council at Ochsner, made up of pediatric patients ages 5 to 18. 

This interactive council gives children and teens a real voice in shaping hospital and clinic experiences, ensuring the patient journey is designed with kids, not just for them. 

At Ochsner Children’s, young patients won't just be heard. They'll help make decisions.

What does the Ochsner Children's Kids' Council do?

Members of Ochsner Children's Kids’ Council members meet in-person and virtually monthly. During their meetings, they will do the following:

• Review hospital and clinic practices
• Share feedback about their experiences 
• Offer ideas for making care more welcoming, comfortable and supportive for children and families from across the Gulf South 

When their recommendations lead to action, the decision becomes an official Kids' Decree, giving council members a visible role in creating change throughout Ochsner Children's.

Members of the Ochsner Children's Kids' Council represent a wide range of ages and medical experiences, bringing valuable perspectives on what matters most to young patients and families.
