Designated as a Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center by the American College of Radiology, Ochsner LSU Health earned accreditation in all programs and modules, offering a one-stop quality patient experience.

Outcomes

Striving to strengthen healthcare services specifically for pregnant women with substance use disorders and their dependent children, Northeast Delta Human Services Authority and Ochsner LSU Health Monroe have entered into a new partnership. This collaboration is designed to improve residents’ access to behavioral and physical health services across the area.

For improving health outcomes for patients, Ochsner LSU Health received the following recognitions in 2024:

Get With The Guidelines Heart Failure Award and Stroke Award from the American Heart Association for meeting specific quality measures for treatment, education and patient outcomes
High Performing Procedure for Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma from U.S. News & World Report, which recognizes exceptional cancer treatments, considering factors such as unplanned readmissions, survival and others
The Excellence in Life Support Award, which recognizes programs worldwide that have processes, procedures and systems in place to promote excellence and exceptional care in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation lifesaving measures

U.S. News & World Report named Ochsner LSU Health – St. Mary Medical Center as a 2025 High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care, recognizing the quality of its maternity care as measured by factors including birthing-friendly practices and favorable rates for unexpected newborn complications, among others.

Demonstrating a commitment to providing patients with exceptional care, Ochsner LSU Health – St. Mary Medical Center earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group.

Working with the state to discuss the role hospitals and frontline healthcare workers play in helping to stop human trafficking, Ochsner LSU Health and Ochsner have implemented programs that help healthcare workers recognize red flags.

Education & Economic Opportunity

Celebrating National Job Shadowing Day, a group of sophomores from Neville and Wossman high schools and Richland Parish toured Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe Medical Center, through the ULM TRiO Educational Talent Search Program. Hospital staff spoke to students about programs and departments like nursing, tobacco cessation, pharmacy, radiology and imaging, lab and pathology, and Ochsner Opportunities. Students had the chance to shadow several departments.

Holy Angels and Ochsner LSU Health have joined forces to bring a new gift shop to Ochsner LSU Health – St. Mary Medical Center in Shreveport: the Holy Angels – Ochsner LSU Health Gift Shop! This partnership not only provides customers with delicious treats and unique gifts but also creates employment opportunities for individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities.

Stop the Bleed, a rural trauma or intellectual disabilities. development and fall prevention training program, and Sudden Impact, a program designed to prevent distracted and impaired driving, were presented by Ochsner LSU Health to 10th graders at various high schools in Monroe and Shreveport.

Inviting children with diabetes and their families to an educational and supportive program with healthcare professionals, Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport hosted a lunch-and-learn about diabetes in children.

Community Partnerships

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Ochsner LSU Health Monroe held its fifth Annual Breast Cancer Survivor and Memorial Walk in October 2024.

Ochsner LSU Health Monroe took home the trophy for the most employees participating in the NELA Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation Run/Walk.
