Identifying Our Community’s Greatest Needs

Our 2021 Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Community Health Needs Assessment and 2021 Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport - Monroe Medical Center Community Health Needs Assessment allowed us to determine which significant health needs should be prioritized in our region’s Community Health Improvement Planning process.

What We’re Doing

In North Louisiana, Ochsner Health has identified and is focused on better addressing the needs of underserved and vulnerable populations by offering health screenings and education, including COVID and flu vaccination and screening and education concerning diabetes, high blood pressure and certain types of cancer. We work with our external partners to bring as many wellness resources to the community as possible.

We support STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs that offer students an immersive healthcare experience through which they learn about the variety of roles and levels of care involved in running a hospital and treating patients, and we forge partnerships with higher education institutions to help train our future workforce. Our volunteer efforts are focused on collaborating with external partners to create opportunities for our employees to give back to the local community, with initiatives ranging from beautification projects to supply collection to event setup. We encourage and support our employees’ participation in and board membership for community organizations and work with national, regional and local organizations that support our vision, mission and values to develop innovative initiatives for the greater good of the community.
