In 2025, Ochsner LSU’s Mobile Health Unit hosted 30+ clinics, serving 600+ people through health screenings, flu shots and community events. The unit also supported five student-led clinics with LSU Health’s Medical Student Charity Outreach Organization, with more planned for 2026, helping to bring preventive care directly to the communities that need it most.
Our Monroe team welcomed Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. for its Second Annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Lunch & Learn. Attendees received education on early detection and treatment, engaged in an informative Q&A and had access to on-site PSA screenings, all underscored by Ochsner LSU Health Monroe CEO Mark Randolph’s message on the importance of preventive care.
We are empowering young people to build lifelong wellness routines through a monthly FAN Club healthy habits class, led by outpatient nutrition dietitians. Held every second Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Ochsner LSU Health – St. Mary Medical Center, the 90-minute class teaches children ages 10–17 how to manage weight, prevent disease, reduce reliance on medications and develop healthier eating patterns.
STEM Pathfinders, offered by Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe and Ochsner LSU Health – Shreveport, gives local high schoolers a hands-on look at careers in healthcare. Students explored lab science, therapy services, respiratory care and infection prevention through interactive demonstrations led by our clinical and non-clinical teams.
Partnering with the Ouachita Council on Aging, Ochsner LSU Health – Monroe Medical Center supported a fan drive to help seniors beat the heat and collected school supplies for the Community Health & Wellness Expo’s back-to- school initiative, supporting both seniors and students across the parish.
Ochsner LSU Health Monroe proudly partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of North Louisiana to support the Celebration of Literacy, creating a new Book Nook and providing STEM kits to inspire young readers and future innovators.
The 6th Annual Cancer Survivor and Memorial Walk brought survivors, families and team members together to honor those affected by cancer and celebrate their strength. Led by Wilma Davis, RN, the walk in Monroe continues to grow each year as a powerful expression of hope and support.
An annual Celebration of Life Luncheon was hosted in Monroe, bringing more than 80 survivors and loved ones together for music, heartfelt stories and uplifting recognition. The event honored milestones, from decades cancer-free to recent victories, creating a meaningful space of joy, connection and gratitude.
From the Shreveport Farmers Market to the Monroe Civic Center, Ochsner LSU Health’s mobile and market-based outreach brought screenings, education and interactive wellness experiences to families where they live, shop and gather.
