William Lennarz, MD, MMM, FAAP, FAAEM
Pediatric Emergency Medicine System Chair of Pediatrics, Ochsner Hospital for Children
Dr. Lennarz serves as the Clinical Leader for Ochsner Healthy Schools Program.
Dr. William Lennarz received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine located in Charlottesville, VA. He then completed a Pediatrics Residency with the University of Virginia Children’s Medical Center. Throughout his career, Dr. Lennarz has operated as a faculty member at Oregon Health Sciences Center and the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He has demonstrated the qualities of leadership while serving as Director of Pediatrics for Gadsen Medical Center, Partner/President for Gloucester Pediatrics, Pediatric Medical Director for Virginia Emergency Associates, Inc., and Pediatric Chief Medical Officer and Children’s Services/Critical Care Transport Vice President for Bon Secours Virginia Health System. Dr. Lennarz is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, the Children’s Hospital Leadership Council, and the Society for Pediatric Sedation. He actively participates in community service through PRONINO and Fit4Kids. His special areas of interest include pediatric sedation, pediatric subspecialty workforce and utilization, and children’s hospital development.

Melanie serves as the Operations Leader for Ochsner Healthy Schools Program.

Carlos serves as the Business Development Leader for Ochsner Healthy Schools Program.
Catina Gordon-Oates
Manager, Pediatric Primary Care Clinics and School Nurse Program
Catina Gordon-Oates is the Operations Manager for General Pediatrics and Ochsner’s School Nurse Program. She has 24 years of professional nursing experience. Catina is a certified pediatric registered nurse and has worked in various nursing roles including critical care, long-term care, home health and clinical research. Catina has a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Public Health as well as a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Catina is an active member of the National Association of Schools Nurses (NASN), Society of Pediatric Nurses (SPN), American Nurses Association (ANA), Louisiana State Nurses Association (LSNA) and the New Orleans District Nurses Association (NODNA). Catina has remained committed to integrating school-based nursing with primary care pediatrics and has helped to solidify an important bridge for communication among healthcare providers, teachers and parents alike.
Mimi Gary
Nurse Supervisor, School Nurse Program
Mimi Gary is Nurse Supervisor, School Nurse Program. She is a certified pediatric registered nurse and has spent the majority of her career in pediatric emergency. Mimi Gary received her BSN from LSUHSC - School of Nursing and her Bachelor's of Science from Xavier University of Louisiana. She is currently attending American Military University where she is studying to receive her Master's of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Healthcare Leadership.
Diana Peterson, MD, MPH
Physician Associate Chair of Pediatrics
Dr. Diana Peterson earned her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans and completed her pediatric internship and residency at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Dr. Peterson also completed a Masters of Public Health degree at Tulane University School of Public Health in New Orleans, LA. Dr. Peterson is board certified for the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Peterson’s expertise is in general pediatrics.
Christina Cannizzaro Horsman, MD, FAAP
Medical Director, Healthy Schools Program, Pediatric Hospitalist
Dr. Christian Cannizzaro Horsman is a pediatric hospitalist at Ochsner Medical Center. She received her medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She also completed a residency at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Jake A. Kleinmahon, MD
Director, Pediatric Heart Transplant & Heart Failure
Dr. Jake Kleinmahon joined the faculty at Ochsner Hospital for Children in 2018. He services as the medical director of Ochsner’s pediatric heart transplant, heart failure and ventricular assist device programs. He also has advanced training in taking care of infants and children with pulmonary hypertension and runs a clinic dedicated to taking care of patients with pulmonary hypertension.
Dr. Kleinmahon trained in pediatrics at Tulane University Hospital and Ochsner Hospital for Children before completing fellowships in pediatric cardiology and pediatric heart transplant and heart failure at Children’s Hospital Colorado. While in Colorado, he was awarded the Colorado Chapter of the Pediatric Congenital Heart Association's Doctor of the Year award in 2017. He was also elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society as a resident.
Dr. Kleinmahon is active in the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and has been asked to present multiple times at their annual conference. He is also active within the pediatric heart transplant study society. He is the principal investigator of the Pediatric Heart Transplant Study and Advanced Cardiac Therapies Improving Outcomes Network (ACTION) at Ochsner. His interests include taking care of children with heart transplants and pulmonary hypertension.
Michelle Puzdrakiewicz, MD, MPH, FAAP
Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine
Dr. Michelle Puzdrakiewicz earned her medical degree from Tulane Medical School, completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of California at Davis (UC Davis) Medical Center, and served the fourth year as chief resident at UC Davis.
Dr. Puzdrakiweicz specializes in hospital medicine and is board certified in general pediatrics as well as pediatric hospital medicine. Dr. Puzdrakiewicz currently practices at Ochsner Hospital for Children in New Orleans.
Elizabeth Olson, MD
Medical Director, Pediatric Community Health
Dr. Olson received her Medical Degree from Tulane University. She also received a Masters in Public Health with a focus on Maternal and Child Health. Following this, she completed an internship in Family Practice at Ochsner. Subsequently, she transitioned to Pediatrics and completed a Pediatrics Residency at Tulane where she trained at Tulane Hospital for Children, University/Charity Hospital and Ochsner Hospital for Children.
Dr. Olson is board-certified in Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She spent 15 years working as a Pediatrician for Dartmouth Medical Center in New Hampshire and returned to New Orleans in April 2021 to work for the Ochsner Community Health Clinics. Dr. Olson's expertise is in General Pediatrics. In addition, she has extensive experience caring for NICU graduates, children with asthma and children with Down syndrome. She is a mother to four boys and, in her spare time, enjoys cooking and spending time outdoors.
Lacey Ellis, PhD
Director, Michael R. Boh Center for Child Development
Dr. Lacey Ellis received her undergraduate and doctorate degree in psychology at Louisiana State University and completed an internship as well as a postdoctoral fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Ellis is a licensed psychologist and is board-certified in behavior analysis. Dr. Ellis has over fifteen years of experience working with children in both clinical and school settings. She is the founder and former clinical director of Ochsner Health Center for Children - Live Oak. She currently serves as director of the Michael R. Boh Center for Child Development at Ochsner Hospital for Children.
Dr. Ellis has worked in both the public and private school settings with teachers and school personnel as a consultant to design effective behavioral and academic interventions for students. Additionally, Dr. Ellis has provided outpatient psychological and behavioral services to both typically developing children as well as children with special needs in a variety of clinical settings.
Dr. Ellis is active in several community organizations and professional associations and is a past president of the Louisiana Psychological Association. She currently serves as a Federal Advocacy Coordinator for the state of Louisiana for the American Psychological Association. Dr. Ellis enjoys providing therapeutic services to children and families across the Gulf South region as well as advocating for mental health policy at both the state and federal level.
