Ochsner Health is the leading clinical oncology program in the Gulf South region caring for most of the cancer patients in Louisiana. For over 75 years, we have been dedicated to cancer research and new cancer treatment developments, with more clinical trials than anywhere else within the Gulf South. Our multi-disciplinary approach, advanced technologies, focus on clinical research and our Precision Cancer Therapies Program define our approach to cancer care. Ochsner’s Hematology/Oncology Section at Ochsner Medical Center - Jefferson Hwy. is housed in a modern facility that stresses comfort with natural lighting provided by windows and a large skylight. In addition, chemotherapy stations circle the nurse's station in the treatment area, allowing for close observation by the nurses.
Grant Brauwn, RN has worked as an oncology nurse for over 26 years. He says his joy in nursing comes directly from his patients. "Oncology patients come back for cycles of care. You really get to know them... You get to develop a relationship with your patients. That's what I appreciate most."
