The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge program provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers. More than just a roof over their heads, it’s a nurturing community that helps patients access the care they need. Each Hope Lodge community offers a supportive, homelike environment where guests can share a meal, join in the evening’s activities, or unwind in their own private room. Patients staying at a Hope Lodge must be in active cancer treatment.

Staying with Your Child
We encourage parents to play an active role in their child’s healthcare. While your child is at Ochsner Children’s, we encourage you or a responsible adult to stay with your child at all times.
Please ask your child’s nurse for linens and other needed items for your overnight stay.
Sibling Visitation
PICU/CVICU: No one under the age of 6 is allowed to visit the PICU. Siblings between the ages of 6 and 12 may be permitted to visit only after meeting with a Child Life Specialist. If you feel that your child would benefit from having a sibling visit, speak with your child's nurse. We ask that you give 24 hours advance notice in order for us to arrange this visit.
All other visitors must be at least 14 years old. Pediatric Unit: While a sibling of any age can visit the Peds Unit, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times in any area of the hospital.
The discharge process begins as soon as your child is admitted at Ochsner Children’s. The team providing care for your child will work closely with you and your child in order to provide a safe discharge plan.
