    The Brent House Hotel is located on the same campus at the Ochsner Children’s Hospital. The hotel is in an adjoining building to the hospital, providing close proximity to hospital rooms.

    The Brent House offers extended stay rooms with kitchenettes. Laundry facilities are on-site. Valet parking and complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout our guests’ rooms and facilities.

  • Ronald McDonald House Chevron Arrow

    The mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Louisiana is to provide a "home-away-from-home" to families of seriously ill children and to provide programs that give comfort, compassion and care to children and their families.

    The Ronald McDonald House accepts families of children 21 and under in age who are coming to New Orleans for medical treatment. These families must live at least 25 miles outside of New Orleans.

    Referrals to Ronald McDonald House must be made by a nurse or social worker. For more information, click here.

  • American Cancer Society Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge Chevron Arrow

    The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge program provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers. More than just a roof over their heads, it’s a nurturing community that helps patients access the care they need. Each Hope Lodge community offers a supportive, homelike environment where guests can share a meal, join in the evening’s activities, or unwind in their own private room. Patients staying at a Hope Lodge must be in active cancer treatment.

    • Language and Translation Services
      Foreign language interpreters are available to assist non-English speaking patients in all aspects of their care. Language services are available 24 hours/day 7 days/week free of charge. Face-to-Face interpreter service is available at Ochsner Hospital for Children directly through the International Health Services Department at 504-842-3719.
      Hours: 7am - 5pm, Monday - Friday. After 5pm, please call the operator (0) for the person on call.

      The Ochsner Outpatient Pharmacy is located on the first floor of the Atrium tower lobby. In addition to filling prescriptions, personal toiletries are available.

      The Ochsner Blood Bank is located on the 1st floor Atrium Tower near the Medical Library.

      There are two public mail drop locations: On the 1st floor near hospital elevators and at the entrance to the Brent House Hotel.

    All rooms in the Ochsner Children’s Pediatric Units are private rooms.

    Telephones
    There are telephones in each room. Local calls may be made by dialing 9 and the number. Dial 0 for operator assistance. Long distance calls cannot be made from the hospital room phone.

    Televisions
    Each patient room includes a built-in flat-screen television with a DVD player. DVDs can be borrowed from the Child Life Department.

    Internet Access
    Ochsner Children’s offers free, wireless network access — called OHSGUEST — that patients and visitors may access from throughout the hospital complex.

    Staying with Your Child
    We encourage parents to play an active role in their child’s healthcare. While your child is at Ochsner Children’s, we encourage you or a responsible adult to stay with your child at all times.

    Please ask your child’s nurse for linens and other needed items for your overnight stay.

    Sibling Visitation
    PICU/CVICU: No one under the age of 6 is allowed to visit the PICU. Siblings between the ages of 6 and 12 may be permitted to visit only after meeting with a Child Life Specialist. If you feel that your child would benefit from having a sibling visit, speak with your child's nurse. We ask that you give 24 hours advance notice in order for us to arrange this visit.

    All other visitors must be at least 14 years old. Pediatric Unit: While a sibling of any age can visit the Peds Unit, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times in any area of the hospital.

  • Going Home Chevron Arrow

    The discharge process begins as soon as your child is admitted at Ochsner Children’s. The team providing care for your child will work closely with you and your child in order to provide a safe discharge plan.
