Our Metastatic Colorectal Cancer program is the only one of its kind in the Gulf South. We offer a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to the management of patients with Stage IV colorectal cancer and liver-only metastases. Our program offers minimally invasive liver resection, liver transplantation for unresectable metastases, intra-arterial directed therapies such as radioembolization and chemoembolization, and access to a variety of early-phase and late-phase clinical trials.

Our Multidisciplinary Approach

We present each patient at a multidisciplinary tumor board specific for this patient population. We also have a dedicated nurse navigator to guide each patient through the process. We tailor our treatment recommendations to meet each patient’s individual needs. When recommending systemic therapies that can be provided off-protocol, we provide and communicate our recommendations so that the patients can receive these with their primary medical oncologists.

At Ochsner, we combine advanced surgical techniques including robotic resection with interventional options to expand the pool of patients who can be offered resection of their tumors. Ochsner is also one of only a few centers around the world that offers liver transplantation for colorectal metastases for patients with colorectal cancer confined to the liver that would be otherwise unresectable, leveraging our robust experience as a national leader in liver transplantation.
