Coder Apprentice, Coder, Coder Specialist, Sr. Coder
Reviews, accurately codes and abstracts services per coding guidelines.
Activities:
- Assigns ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes to reflect services provided to patients
- Accesses the company’s EMR and coding software
- Reviews and processes coding claim edits
- Conducts qualitative reviews of documentation
- Addresses missing information
- Maintains department metrics for accuracy
What You'll Need
Education: High school diploma plus 3 years of coding experience or HIM coding certificate and/or professional curriculum
Inpatient Coding Intern: CCA, CCS, CIC, RHIT, or RHIA Professional Coding Intern: CCA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, COC, RHIT or RHIA
Knowledge: English language, Microsoft Office, ICD-10 proficient
Skills: Excellent verbal & written communication skills, problem-solving skills, computer skills, organizational skills, data entry, research skills
Abilities: Work Independently and collaboratively as a team member, collaborate with other departments
