I was a nurse for 13 years, support my family and my husband as he finished his seminary education. During this time I was encouraged by other physicians to go to medical school. So at the age of 30 and with 4 children at home, I applied and was accepted at Des Moines University medical school.
I completed my residency in Family Medicine in Lincoln Nebraska. My first job was in a small town in rural Nebraska where I cared for patients throughout all levels of hospital and outpatient care.
The physicians I have worked with and the range of patients I have cared for influence my style of practice. I love that Family Practice involves caring for all ages—from the grandparents to infants.
My approach to medicine is holistic. This means incorporating emotional, social and spiritual needs as well as physical needs.
