Dr. Moore served as chief of surgery inthe United States Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, where he attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. He joined Ochsner Medical Center in 2011 as the director of head and neck surgical oncology and vice-chairman of the otolaryngology department. Dr. Moore has been system chairman of otorhinolaryngology and communication sciences since June of 2015, leading the department through a period of significant growth and continuing the department's legacy of excellence that is reflected in its regular listing among the Top 50 ENT Departments by U.S. News and World Report.
Dr. Moore has served as the director of the Ochsner Cancer Institute since February 2017, and was formally appointed to the position in the summer of 2018. In this system role and as an associate medical director for the South Shore region, Dr. Moore's responsibilities include supporting the multidisciplinary teams that drive patient-centered, innovative cancer care across Ochsner Health, and guiding the expansion of the Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center, its programs and personnel.
His publications, book chapters and invited articles focus on advanced cutaneous malignancy, or skin cancer, functional results of head and neck reconstruction and contemporary treatment of head and neck cancer with a focus on quality outcomes. Along with Randal Weber, MD, he co-edited a textbook on skin cancer of the head and neck, "Cutaneous Malignancy of the Head and Neck: A Multidisciplinary Approach." Dr. Moore is an active member of multiple professional societies and has held several national offices. He was appointed to the commission on cancer in 2017 as the representative of the American Head and Neck Society.
