Dr. Donald Barnes is a physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology at Ochsner Health. He was born and raised in Bunkie, Louisiana. After high school, Dr. Barnes received his bachelors degree in microbiology at Louisiana Tech University. He went on to attend Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he received his doctorate degree in 1999. In 2003, Dr. Barnes completed a four-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Arkansas, Medical Science Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Dr. Barnes has been an active member of the community since returning to south Louisiana in 2003, and takes great pridein the care provided by the Ochsner American Legion Hospital team. He is board-certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Accompanied by 18 years of experience, Dr. Barnes has become an established and highly skilled physician. He is well regarded in the Acadiana area, earning numerous accolades for his high-quality and patient-centered care. His passion is driven by the bonds he has built with his patients, and he holds much pleasure in keeping them healthy and well, while continuing to provide quality obstetrical and gynecological care. In his spare time, Dr. Barnes enjoys gardening, traveling, photography and arts and design.
