Donnesha Clayton, MD

Dr. Donnesha Clayton joined Ochsner Medical Center - Baton Rouge in September 2020. She received her undergraduate degree in biological sciences from Louisiana State University. She then earned her medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans. After obtaining her medical degree, Dr. Clayton completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. She then went on to complete her gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at Tulane University School of Medicine. Dr. Clayton has been involved in several leadership positions throughout her academic career, and she hopes to continue to expand her leadership roles at Ochsner Medical Center. Dr. Clayton is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Her clinical interests are general gastroenterology and her interests outside of medicine include traveling, reading, cooking and spending time with her family.

I have been experiencing so many different issues with my stomach and the waiting list after being referred by my doctor to see a GI specialist was long. Dr. Clayton took me on as a patient and I was extremely impressed as to how thorough she was. Very attentive to the details of my symptoms, and as opposed to making me wait longer to have a EGD done, she set something up immediately. Her mannerisms were an absolute 10 for me. Staff super friendly and professional. I could not have asked for a more better experience. Very professional

Dr. Clayton was very personable and knowledgeable. She didn’t go straight to medication because of my symptoms but chose to do testing to rule out any conditions. I felt comfortable with her as opposed to my past experiences.

Dr. Clayton has a beautiful personality! Awesome "bedside manner". She listened and took great notes regarding my concerns. She was able to assess them & give concise directions to gain resolution. Office staff works expeditiously when scheduling referrals and issuing them! Overall GREAT experience!

She was very patient with me and very knowledgeable. I left her office feeling like maybe my problems will now be taken care of.

I thought that when I first started seeing Dr. Clayton that I would be getting the care I so desperately needed but now im feeling as if I'm a burden to my health care team. When I caught COVID it changed me and for the life of me I can't figure out what's wrong and neither can they. I reached out with an issue that was concerning to me and I got an ok, Thanks for letting me know. I'm so over the treatment I'm not really receiving. And no one seems to know anything.
