Ian Savage Elliott, MD, serves as the section head of foot and ankle surgery at Ochsner Health, treating patients in New Orleans and Kenner, Louisiana. As a board-certified and dual fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Elliott cares for diseases and injuries of the shoulder, knee, hip, ankle and foot. He also treats complex orthopedic trauma and fractures throughout the body, partnering with you to safely restore your mobility and strength.

Originally from New Haven, Connecticut, Dr. Elliott earned his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed his internship at Massachusetts General Hospital and his orthopedic surgery residency at Tulane University, where he was named an American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society resident scholar and an American Orthopedic Association Emerging Leader.

To further build his expertise, Dr. Elliott completed an orthopedic foot and ankle fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, focusing on severe lower extremity injuries, trauma and reconstructive surgery. He then completed a sports medicine fellowship at NYU Langone Health, where he advanced his skills in arthroscopic procedures, open surgery and joint replacements of the shoulder and knee.

Dr. Elliott brings a deep passion for sports medicine and athlete care to his community. He understands the physical demands of high-level sports firsthand, having competed as a collegiate All-American Rugby 7s player and an International Rugby League athlete for the United States. He has shared this expertise as a team physician for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the New Jersey Devils, the New Orleans Gold and Rugby United New York.

Dedicated to innovation and advancing orthopedic care, Dr. Elliott has authored more than 50 academic publications and presentations. His commitment to achieving better outcomes for patients has earned him multiple national and international awards from the Louisiana Orthopaedic Association, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the International Cartilage Repair Society.
