Ian Savage Elliott, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Ochsner Health. He treats diseases of the shoulder, knee, hip, ankle and foot as well as orthopedic trauma and fractures throughout the body. Dr. Elliott hails from New Haven, Connecticut, and received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed his internship at Mass General Hospital in the Harvard hospital system and his orthopedic surgery residency at Tulane University, where he was named a resident scholar and an American Orthopedic Association (AOA) Emerging Leader. He completed an orthopedic foot and ankle fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he specialized in lower extremity injuries and trauma. He then completed a sports medicine fellowship at New York University Langone Health, where he focused on arthroscopic as well as open surgery and joint replacements of the shoulder and knee. He has worked as a team physician for the Jacksonville Jaguars (National Football League), the New Jersey Devils (National Hockey League), the New Orleans Gold (Major League Rugby) and Rugby United New York (Major League Rugby). He is passionate about all aspects of sports medicine and athlete care, having previously competed as a collegiate All-American Rugby 7s player and International Rugby League athlete for the United States. He has completed more than 50 academic publications and presentations, and his work has won multiple national and international awards from organizations ranging from the Louisiana Orthopedic Association, Arthroscopy Association of North America and International Cartilage Repair Society.
