Biography

Jeremy Burnham, MD, is a dual board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist practicing at Ochsner Health in Baton Rouge. His specialties include treating ACL and knee ligament injuries, patellar (kneecap) instability and complex knee injuries. Dr. Burnham performs meniscus repairs and transplants, cartilage restoration, osteotomies, and multi-ligament knee reconstructions to help patients achieve the best recovery and return to their active lives.
He is the system vice chair of the musculoskeletal service line, regional department head of orthopedic surgery, medical director of sports medicine, and medical director of the therapy and wellness service line. He also directs the Athletic Trainer Residency Program and teaches as clinical faculty for the University of Queensland-Ochsner Medical School.
Dedicated to advancing medical innovation, Dr. Burnham is the site principal investigator on two federally funded multicenter clinical trials and has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications. He actively supports his community as the team physician for the Baton Rouge Rougarou and several Baton Rouge-area high schools. Previously, he served as a team physician at the collegiate and professional levels and as an orthopedic surgeon in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Dr. Burnham earned his medical degree from the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Kentucky, where he earned multiple awards. He also finished a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. As a former varsity football player at Louisiana State University, he brings a unique, empathetic perspective to sports medicine. His recent honors include the Castle Connolly Top Doctor designation and the Louisiana Arthritis Foundation Game Changer Award.
