Biography
Jodie Horton, MD, specializes in gynecology at Ochsner Health. Dr. Jodie Horton is a highly skilled and compassionate OB/GYN with over 20 years of experience in women's health. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and has a special focus on perimenopause and menopause, which has led her to become a certified practitioner with the North American Menopause Society. Dr. Horton is dedicated to helping women navigate the physical and emotional changes that come with these life stages, while also emphasizing the importance of overall health and longevity. In addition to her work in menopause care, Dr. Horton is passionate about lifestyle medicine and its role in promoting long-term health. As a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, she stays at the forefront of evidence-based practices that focus on how personal habits, such as diet, exercise, and stress management, can significantly impact a woman’s well-being.
Dr. Horton completed her undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also earned a minor in French. She then graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in 2000, where her interest in women's health began to take shape. Dr. Horton went on to complete her OB/GYN residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis in 2004.
Throughout her career, Dr. Horton has worked in a variety of settings, including private practice, as an OB Hospitalist, and as an assistant professor at Georgetown University Medical Center. She recently relocated to New Orleans and is excited to continue her practice at Ochsner Health.
When she's not caring for patients, Dr. Horton enjoys traveling, shopping, reading, exploring new restaurants and spending quality time with her daughter and blended family. She looks forward to building lasting relationships with the New Orleans community and helping women of all ages live their healthiest, most fulfilling lives.
