Marwa Elsayed, MD, specializes in hematology and oncology at Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She cares for patients with cancer and blood disorders, including solid tumors, blood cancers, benign blood conditions and clotting disorders. She provides thorough evaluations and develops individualized care plans as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on coordinated, compassionate care.

Dr. Elsayed earned her medical degree from Cairo University in Egypt. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Missouri–Kansas City and her fellowship in hematology and oncology at Indiana University.

Dr. Elsayed’s clinical interests include benign and malignant hematology, solid tumors, cancer-related symptoms, and precision oncology, including the use of molecular profiling to guide diagnosis, treatment selection, and disease monitoring. She has a special interest in gastrointestinal and genitourinary oncology. Dr. Elsayed has contributed to research on leukemia, amyloidosis, pancreatic cancer, and emerging cancer therapies, with several peer-reviewed publications. She is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Dr. Elsayed values the opportunity to care for patients and their families during challenging times and takes a patient-centered approach to caring for adults with complex medical needs. She is fluent in Arabic and English. Outside of medicine, she enjoys solving Sudoku puzzles, cooking with her family, and watching mystery films and investigative documentaries.
