Biography

Michael Alexander, MD, specializes in internal medicine at Ochsner Health. Dr. Alexander is a board-certified internal medicine physician with over 30 years of experience in adult primary care and complex medical management. He completed his postgraduate training at the University of Texas Affiliated Hospitals in July 1985. 

Dr. Alexander has held multiple leadership roles throughout his career, including chair of medicine, chief of staff, and member of the board of trustees. He serves on both the Credentials Committee and the Medical Executive Committee at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center, where he plays an active role in shaping clinical standards and governance. 

Beyond his hospital leadership, Dr. Alexander has contributed to professional committees focused on advancing internal medicine and fostering collaborative care. His academic contributions include the publication “Clinical Aspects of Sjogren Syndrome” in the Southern Medical Journal (July 1986, Volume 97, No. 7).
