Nakia Brooks specializes in medical oncology at Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center. She is a physician assistant with a background in internal medicine, gastroenterology, oncology and family practice. Nakia completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at the University of New Orleans in 2000, and went on to complete a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha in physician assistant studies. She completed her Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies in 2007 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. From 2007 to 2012, Nakia worked as a physician assistant in the U.S. Army. She served at Fort Hood, Texas, Fort Knox, Kentucky, as well as Jalalabad and Gardez, Afghanistan. From 2012 to 2014 she worked as a U.S. Army National Guard Clinical Training Officer, going on to serve as a U.S. Army Reserve Physician Assistant starting in 2016.
