Nakia Brooks, PA-C, specializes in gastroenterology medical oncology at Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center. She is a physician assistant with a background in internal medicine, gastroenterology, oncology, trauma medicine and family practice. Nakia completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at the University of New Orleans in 2000. She went on to complete a Bachelor of Science degree as well as her Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2007. These degrees were completed while serving in the U.S. Army. She began working in oncology in 2013. She has completed her military service and is looking forward to retirement from the U.S. Army.


Nakia is proud to serve as a gastrointestinal oncology provider. Her goal is to give every patient care, support and understanding. She wants each person to feel heard and to leave with both hope and honesty about their diagnosis and treatment. She is committed to being there for her patients in every way she can. Nakia is a wife and mother, as well as a daughter of a cancer survivor. In her free time, she enjoys playing sports, cycling, traveling, spending time with her family and relaxing near the water.
