On-site screenings

  • Why should employers offer biometric screenings? Chevron Arrow

Employers should offer biometric screenings to proactively strengthen workforce health and manage rising health care costs. Through Ochsner Health’s clinically guided screenings, organizations can identify chronic disease risks early, before they escalate into high-cost claims, while connecting employees to coordinated, in-network care at the right time. In addition, employers receive secure, aggregate population health reporting that informs benefits strategy, supports targeted well-being initiatives, and helps build a healthier, more productive workforce.

  • What is measured during a screening? Chevron Arrow

Ochsner Health biometric screenings can be customized to meet your workforce health goals and may include:

    • Blood tests: Total cholesterol, HDL/LDL, triglycerides, glucose
    • Advanced clinical markers (optional): PSA, Hemoglobin A1C, TSH, Complete Metabolic Profile, Complete Blood Chemistry (via venipuncture), Vision Testing, Nicotine (via oral swab)
    • Biometric measurements: Height, Weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure, waist circumference

These clinically guided measures help identify chronic disease risk early and support proactive population health management.

  • How does an Ochsner Health biometric screening work? Chevron Arrow

    Step 1: Schedule & register
    Employees complete a simple registration.

Step 2: Quick screening (10–15 Minutes)
A trained Ochsner Health professional completes a blood draw (venipuncture or fingerstick) and biometric measurements.

    Step 3: Receive personal results
Employees receive a confidential health summary highlighting key metrics and risk indicators.

    Step 4: Connect to care
When needed, employees are guided toward appropriate preventive care, primary care or wellness resources.

Step 5: Employer reporting & insights
HR teams receive aggregate, population-level reporting to support smarter benefits planning and targeted well-being initiatives.

  • How should employees prepare for a biometric screening? Chevron Arrow

To ensure accurate results and a smooth experience, Ochsner Health recommends that participants:

    • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water before the screening.
    • Continue taking prescribed medications unless otherwise directed by their provider.
    • Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the arm for blood pressure readings.
    • Avoid applying lotion to hands prior to a fingerstick screening.

Our goal is to make the screening process convenient, clinically accurate and supportive of your overall well-being.

  • When do employees receive their results? Chevron Arrow

Employees receive their results at the event, with secure online results available after midnight the day after the event. Venipuncture screenings typically provide online results within 1–3 business days, followed by a mailed summary.

All results are protected under HIPAA. Employers receive only aggregate, population-level reporting to support benefits planning while maintaining employee confidentiality.

  • What are the costs of the screenings? Chevron Arrow

For LaBlue and UnitedHealthcare members, costs are billed to plan for eligible members covered at 100%.

Screenings are covered as an additional benefit, and do not interfere with the participant’s annual wellness provider visit.

$55 for non-plan members invoiced to employer.
