At Ochsner Health, we are proud to offer Pet Therapy through Volunteer Services. We currently have over 20 Pet Therapy Volunteer teams throughout our system.

Our Pet Therapy Program includes certified and dedicated therapy dog teams who bring smiles, comfort, and companionship to patients, families, and staff every day.

Research shows that spending just 10 minutes interacting with a dog can:

  • Reduce stress hormones
  • Increase feelings of comfort and connection
  • Improve mood and emotional well-being

These amazing dogs, along with their volunteer handlers, help create meaningful moments of comfort and support throughout Ochsner Health. Their visits provide a welcome distraction, reduce anxiety, and bring joy to patients, families, and staff. They enrich lives through their unconditional love and support. We truly appreciate our Pet Therapy Volunteers Teams for making a difference, one visit at a time.
