Why choose Ochsner Health Center - Mandeville?

We are making healthcare easy. One huge advantage of having a psychiatry and mental health doctor at Ochsner is our electronic medical record. Wherever you go in the Ochsner network, your medical history goes with you and is accessible by specialists, urgent cares and ERs all across the Gulf South.

We are also making it easier to connect you to your doctor at any time with MyOchsner. You can call or message your doctor, schedule appointments, submit refill requests for medication and schedule preventive health reminders to help you stay on track. MyOchsner also allows you to view your results and connect your family to your records and treatment team.

Schedule an appointment

To schedule an appointment, call 985-875-2340 during our regular business hours. You may also schedule an appointment through MyOchsner. Please notify us within 24 hours if you need to cancel your appointment.

We offer same-day and next-day appointments. We also offer virtual visits. If you are a new patient, your first virtual appointment is at the discretion of the provider. Learn more about virtual visits, here.

Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early for your appointment. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please make every effort to notify us within a 24-hour advanced notice. If your doctor is unavailable for an urgent problem, please consider allowing Ochsner to book an appointment for you with another provider.

Medications

Bring your medications or a list of them with the doses and how often you take them each day. Be sure to include any over-the-counter medicines. Having a list of drugs covered by your insurance can also help your doctor make any needed changes to your medication.

Prescription refills

If you need a prescription refill, please call your pharmacy to request it. If your pharmacist has any questions, they will contact Ochsner. Make sure the pharmacy sends your refill request to Ochsner at least three to five working days before you run out of your medication. If we don't get the notice in time, we can't promise your refill will be ready before you use up your current supply.

Emergency room and hospital discharges

Let your insurance provider know within 48 hours if you go to the emergency room, even if a doctor sends you. After you're treated or leave the hospital, call your primary care doctor for any follow-up care. If you got emergency room care or were hospitalized somewhere other than Ochsner, bring those records to your appointment so we can keep giving you the best care.

Calling your doctor

Sometimes your doctor or nurse might be busy with other patients and can't take your call. If this happens, the receptionist will pass your message to the nurse. Depending on the call, either the doctor or nurse will get back to you within four hours. Calls after 3 p.m. will be returned the next business day. Calls are usually returned during the day or after clinic hours. Not all doctors have clinic hours every day, so it's useful to know when yours is available. For routine questions or requests, call when your doctor is in the clinic. Non-urgent requests might wait until then.

Ochsner On Call

Ochsner On Call lets you book appointments and get health advice any time, day or night, all week long. Specially trained nurses are ready to talk about your health concerns, help you decide if you need to go to the emergency room or see a doctor, and suggest ways to take care of yourself. This service is free, and you can reach it by calling 1-800-231-5257 or 504-842-3155.
