Shane Norris is a 12th generation New Orleanian and a music enthusiast who received a prostate cancer diagnosis in March 2020. Shane wanted the most advanced care and a non-invasive treatment option. Dr. Stephen Bardot, of The Gayle & Tom Benson Cancer Center, at Ochsner introduced him to the HIFU (High Intensity Focal Ultrasound) procedure. Shane was the first person in Louisiana to have the HIFU procedure for the treatment of prostate cancer, which saved his life, so that he could get back to the music he loves.
Michael P., Pediatric Patient - Michael was born with a complex series of birth defects, including hydrocephalus and tetralogy of fallot. When Sylvia Chapman went in for her routine mammogram on Sept. 10, 2020, at the Lieselotte Tansey Breast Center at Ochsner, she did not expect anything would be out of the ordinary. Upon noticing some abnormalities in her scan, Sylvia's radiologist, Dr. Brett Roberts, and his team performed a biopsy and confirmed what no one wants to hear, "You have breast cancer."
