Prenatal consultation Now is the perfect time in your pregnancy to start planning for breastfeeding your newborn. Ochsner Lactation Services provides personal prenatal consultations to address your questions and concerns. Our certified lactation consultants teach the principles of breastfeeding and ensure you are properly fitted for a nursing bra. For mothers returning to work or school after giving birth, our consultants create individualized plans to help you and your baby continue breastfeeding. These sessions include personalized plans and recommendations for the best breast pumps to meet your needs. Prenatal breastfeeding class This monthly class provides detailed information on the breastfeeding basics. In a group setting, you will learn the correct techniques and how to begin while in the hospital. Learn more about breastfeeding class offerings and other childbirth education classes. Counseling For those times when telephone assistance just isn’t enough, lactation counselors are available for office visits by appointment. If you're interested in counseling, please connect with your care team for more information. Supplies Breast pumps, nursing bras, breast pads, lanolin, nursing stools, nursing pillows and more are available through the Lactation Program. Ochsner offers one-stop shopping for all of your breastfeeding needs. Pump rentals are also available as an additional option.
