Our team of eye care heroes - ophthalmologists and optometrists - are here to tackle all sorts of eye conditions. Whether it's regular check-ups to keep your eyes in tip-top shape or getting to the bottom of something that's been bugging your vision, we've got your back.

We handle everything from the sneaky eye conditions that creep up on you without warning, to more familiar foes like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and the adventures of dealing with contact lenses or glasses. And if there are bigger challenges to face, like cataracts or glaucoma, we’re equipped with the latest technology and the sharpest skills to take them on.

  • Glaucoma — high eye pressure can damage the optical nerve and lead to blindness

  • Macular degeneration — eye tissue thinning due to the body's natural aging process, that causes vision loss over time

  • Eye cancer (ocular oncology) — treatment is available for cancers that develop within the eye or on the eyelid

  • Pediatric ophthalmology and optometry — Ochsner experts treat patients of all ages, including children

We're not just about fixing problems. We're about guiding you through your eye care journey with confidence, armed with knowledge and innovation, every step of the way. Trust us to be by your side, ensuring your vision stays as brilliant as your future.

We use the latest and greatest technology to make sure you get the best care possible. Our goal isn't just to fix what's bothering you today, but to look after your vision for the future. With our help, you can see the world more brightly and face everything with confidence. Trust us to take good care of your eyes, every step of the way.

  • Canaloplasty — a type of glaucoma procedure that helps relieve eye pressure by enhancing the eye’s natural drainage system

  • Cataract surgery — replacement of your eye’s natural lens with a clear artificial lens if cataracts develop

  • Cornea transplant — part or all of the eye’s outer later (the cornea) is replaced with donated cornea tissue

  • Dry eye treatment — if your eyes don’t make enough tears to stay wet, your ophthalmologist or optometrist may recommend over-the-counter or prescription drops, tear duct plugs or surgery

  • Laser vision treatment — vision correction surgery, including blade-free LASIK and corneal cross-linking (strengthen collagen in the cornea), can improve eyesight

  • Low vision services — these treatments can help when patients lose vision clarity or sharpness

  • Oculoplastic surgery — this type of surgery is performed on the eyelid, eye socket, face or tear ducts

Vision insurance provides additional coverage for routine eye care including eye exams, prescription eyewear, contact lenses and other vision services. While some medical insurance may provide coverage for eye disease or injury, this coverage is separate from vision insurance. It is recommended to visit an eye doctor regularly to ensure your vision remains in top condition and to identify any potential issues early. For most adults, seeing an eye doctor every one to two years is advised. However, if you have existing eye conditions, wear glasses or contact lenses, or have a family history of eye problems, more frequent visits may be necessary. It's vital to follow the guidance of a professional eye care provider who can tailor recommendations based on your individual health needs and risk factors. Consistent eye examinations are a key part of maintaining not just your vision, but your overall health, demonstrating a proactive approach to well-being and medical care.
