Our Specialties

Diabetes Management Center

Diabetes is more common than most people realize. In fact, 7% of the population suffers from diabetes and nearly one-third of these do not know they have the disease.

The Diabetes Management Center, accredited by the American Diabetes Association, works to inform our community about the disease, prevent diabetes and help people manage diabetes so they can live as healthfully as possible and avoid complications.

While there is no cure, diabetes can be managed. Education is key to helping people with diabetes stay healthy from head to toe.

The staff, which includes a diabetes nurse educator and a registered dietitian, leads classes that serve as a comprehensive self-management program covering topics such as keeping blood sugar at safe levels.

A physician referral is necessary for the center. To learn more, call 504-464-8646.

Amenities

Room Types

Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner is committed to providing the best care possible. Sometimes that means meeting your special requests, even providing a private room. However, because the health center cannot predict how many patients will require or prefer a private room, these requests cannot always be met.

Patient rooms are assigned daily by the nursing supervisor based on the medical needs of our patients and the availability of rooms. As a result, it may be necessary to place you in a semi-private room or move you from one room to another to provide the type of care your condition requires.

If a room transfer is required, and a private room is not available, Ochsner will place your name on a waiting list and move you into a private room as soon as one is available. Additionally, Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner is unable to make reservations for private rooms in advance.

Telephones in Patient Rooms

Telephones are conveniently provided in all patient rooms. To make a local call, dial 9 and wait for the dial tone before calling. Long distance calls must be either collect or billed to your home or business phone.

Wireless Internet

Wireless internet is available inside the hospital.

The gift shop at Ochsner Medical Center - Kenner is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located on the first floor in suite 112A.
