Ochsner Hospital for Children is dedicated to providing outstanding, personalized care for infants, children and adolescents. The Ochsner Pediatric Allergy Section evaluates and diagnoses symptoms including:
- Nasal symptoms and sinusitis coughing
- Bronchitis, wheezing
- Chronic or recurrent infections
- Food, drug or insect allergies
- Rashes and itching of the skin
The Ochsner Pediatric Allergy Section also offers comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic and consultative services for children with allergic problems such as:
- Allergic Rhinitis
- Allergic Conjunctivitis
- Urticaria (hives) and Angioedema
- Eczema (atopic dermatitis)
- Insect Allergies
- Antibiotic and Other Drug Allergies
- Food Allergies and Intolerances
- Latex Allergies
- Anaphylaxis
- Immunodeficiencies
These services include skin testing for allergic sensitivity, pulmonary function testing and immune function. The Ochsner Pediatric Allergy Section works closely with patients' primary care providers to institute ongoing, continuous care and to reduce costly hospitalizations and emergency room care.
