Limb Support Clinic

The Limb Support Clinic focuses on major limb amputations, including above-knee, below-knee, and arm amputations. We care for patients whose amputations result from a range of causes, such as: 

• Vascular disease 
• Diabetes and related complications 
• Traumatic injury 
• Cancer 
• Persistent pain or complications following surgery

We also evaluate patients who may soon need an amputation, so we can begin planning and support early.

Our team designed a smooth, coordinated workflow so you receive the right care in the right order, all during one visit. Here is what you can expect: 

1. Surgical evaluation. Your visit begins with our surgeon, who examines your limb and wound to check healing and address any concerns. 
2. Rehabilitation and prosthetics. Once your wound has healed enough, our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) specialist and a clinical prosthetist review your goals, activity level and prosthetic needs. They also check the fit and padding of any existing device. 
3. Social work support. Our social worker helps with transportation, wheelchairs, equipment, insurance questions, and Medicaid eligibility. 
4. Nursing coordination. Our nurse performs wound care, schedules your follow-up appointments, and confirms your next steps before you leave. 
5. Physical therapy. As our clinic grows, physical therapy will join the team to help with gait, mobility and safe transfers. By moving through each specialty in a single appointment, you gain a clear care plan and a team that communicates directly with one another about your needs.

• Matthew Amodeo, MD, and Amy Smith, MD, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation — assesses rehabilitation and prosthetic goals. 
• Community partnered prosthetics experts to support fitting and care. 
• Rachel Ziko, Social Work — helps navigate transportation, equipment and insurance needs. 
• Morgan Doll, RN, Clinic Nurse Navigator — coordinates follow-up appointments and next steps. 

Together, this team makes sure no part of your care is overlooked.
