Dr. Gerald “Gerry” Cvitanovich received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Tulane University in 1982 and went on to attend medical school at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. After receiving his Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Cvitanovich completed a Family Practice Residency at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge and became board-certified in Family Practice. He currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer, Ochsner Urgent Care.

Dr. Granville Morse graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and then received his medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Dr. Morse completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Charity Hospital and is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. He currently serves as System Chair, Ochsner Urgent Care.
When you have a nonemergency illness or injury and need immediate care and medical attention, where do you turn? If it’s after hours, on a weekend or holiday, or you just can’t get an appointment with your primary care doctor quickly enough, you can confidently look to Ochsner’s urgent care clinics. Ochsner offers convenient walk-in clinics, and our urgent care physicians and staff care for patients ages 6 months and older. Ochsner’s urgent care centers are a gateway to our larger Ochsner system if additional care is necessary. Should your illness or injury require a follow-up appointment for treatment, our system allows us to easily schedule that appointment. If that care can’t be provided locally, we can find the right specialist for you at any of our Ochsner facilities.
Additionally, if your primary care physician is affiliated with Ochsner, they will be able to pull up your urgent care visit for ease of your future care.

Find Urgent Care Now allows you to easily pre-register your visit using e-pre check and pay in advance before your arrival time. Ochsner Urgent Care locations operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. Patients scheduling via Find Urgent Care Now do not skip the waiting line, nor will they be seen ahead of individuals in the waiting room or impact others' wait times. If there is an influx of patients with more severe conditions, your projected treatment time may be delayed.

If you have a common illness or minor urgent care need but you’re unable to travel to one of our convenient locations, Ochsner Connected Anywhere Health Kit, powered by TytoCare, allows you to see a member of our care team without leaving your home or office. Visit ochsner.org/anywhere to start an Ochsner Connected Anywhere virtual visit.
Ochsner urgent care centers also use Ochsner Connected Anywhere to reduce wait times by providing virtual patient care to eligible patients. If one of our urgent care centers becomes too busy, any of our other urgent care locations can assist virtually through our Ochsner Connected Anywhere program.
When you arrive at a busy urgent care center, you will be evaluated by one of our team members who will set you up in an exam room. There, you will have your vital signs taken and be given a handheld device to virtually meet with a doctor located at one of our other urgent care facilities. Ochsner Connected Anywhere allows our urgent care team members to perform remote physical exams. Doctors can virtually examine your skin, ears and the back of your throat and listen to your heart and lungs. If any point-of-care testing is needed, this, too, can be performed.

If you are experiencing symptoms of a heart attack, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing and left arm pain/numbness, do not go to an urgent care location. Call 911 or go directly to your nearest hospital emergency room.
Our wait times vary by location. Our goal is to get patients in and out within 45 minutes. However, if we are busy, your wait time may be longer.
Ochsner Urgent Care accepts most major insurance. If you have health insurance, your copay will be due at the time of your service. If you don’t know your copay, contact your insurance provider.
If you don’t have health insurance, our urgent care clinics operate on a three-tier basis:
Please do not visit urgent care unless you need immediate attention. People use urgent care centers for high fevers; accidents; falls; injuries, such as cuts, minor breaks, sprains and strains; and other illnesses. As a community, we need to ensure people who need Ochsner’s care can receive it.
Please use at-home tests or community testing sites to seek COVID-19 tests, for travel and exposure testing, and the COVID-19 Self Care and Symptom Monitoring Program if possible. A positive at-home test does not need to be confirmed in an Ochsner urgent care. If you need minor medical care for COVID-19, a virtual visit through Ochsner Connected Anywhere will allow you to see a doctor from the convenience of your own home. COVID-19 testing for travel is available with a self-pay option. Before arriving at an Ochsner Urgent Care, please check with your airline to determine which test you will need. Find a COVID-19 Community Testing location near you.
According to the CDC, most people with mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) will recover on their own within about a month and won’t need medical attention. They can usually manage symptoms at home. There are currently no specific treatments or vaccines for mpox, but antiviral drugs used to treat smallpox may be used to treat mpox infections due to the similarities of the viruses. If you have tested positive for mpox, ask your doctor about treatment options.
Vaccinations are now available to individuals who may be at high risk for mpox exposure. Appointments are now available and can be booked on the MyOchsner app or website myochsner.org. Once you’ve logged in, select “symptoms and self help” from the main menu to find the mpox attestation and vaccine schedule. If you are unable to schedule online, call 844-888-2772.
