Ochsner Vein Center
According to the American Heart Association, approximately 30 million American adults have varicose veins. For many, varicose veins and spider veins are a cosmetic concern. For others, they can cause aching, cramping, burning, throbbing pain and even lead to serious problems, such as ulcers, blood clots, inflammation (thrombophlebitis) and bleeding of veins very close to the skin. The Ochsner Vein Center and our vein care team is here to help you and to treat any of your vein issues, such as varicose veins, deep venous thrombosis, spider veins and more.

What is Venous Disease?
Veins are flexible, hollow tubes with flaps inside called valves. Our valves and veins stop the blood from flowing backwards and pooling. When the veins and valves are not working properly, the valves can become damage as a result of venous disease. Venous disease includes blood clots, deep venous thrombosis, superficial venous thrombosis, chronic venous insufficiency, varicose and spider veins, and ulcers.
