Aimee Quirk
CEO, Ochsner Ventures
Aimee Quirk is the Chief Executive Officer of Ochsner Ventures. In this role, Aimee leads development and management of Ochsner’s portfolio of strategic investments in emerging companies and venture capital funds as well as other diversified investments and businesses. Additionally, she identifies, evaluates and develops new ventures, partnerships and investment opportunities across the healthcare landscape, both digital and other diversified businesses, based on Ochsner’s system strategy and needs.
Aimee previously served as the CEO of innovationOchsner (iO), an innovation lab and healthcare technology company founded by Ochsner in 2015 to reimagine and revolutionize the delivery and experience of care. Through iO, Ochsner has pioneered several nationally recognized digital health solutions that improve health, enhance the patient and provider experience and reduce costs. She also played a key leadership role in the development of SafeSource Direct, a Louisiana-based manufacturer of PPE launched in response to global supply chain challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to joining Ochsner in 2015, Aimee served as the Senior Advisor for Economic Development for New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, and prior to her public service she was a partner in the New Orleans law firm Jones Walker. Quirk received a B.S. in Finance magna cum laude from Louisiana State University and a J.D. summa cum laude from Tulane University School of Law.
A native of New Orleans, Aimee is active in the community and serves on several boards, including SafeSource Direct, Obatala Sciences, GNO, Inc., The Idea Village and the Center for Resilience. She has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as Women in Health IT to Watch and a Woman of the Year and a Healthcare Hero by CityBusiness Magazine.
Charlotte Piper
Director
Charlotte leads the development of strategy, partnerships, and operations for Ochsner Ventures, and works closely with executive leadership, internal stakeholders and external partners to advance group objectives. Prior to this role, she managed strategy and program development in Digital Health and innovationOchsner (iO), an innovation company founded by Ochsner Health to reimagine and revolutionize the delivery and experience of healthcare and health. Charlotte joined Ochsner Health in 2016 and worked closely with the system’s Executive Team to develop and operationalize the system strategy and manage the strategic planning process after completing an Administrative Fellowship.
Previously, Charlotte worked within the New Orleans entrepreneurial community as partnerships manager at the Idea Village, an economic development organization, and Operations Director of a sustainability startup. She also brings experience as a management consultant working in strategy for life sciences and consumer product companies. Charlotte received a B.A. in Political Science magna cum laude from Barnard College, Columbia University and Masters of Science in Management from the London School of Economics. She is currently a board member for a local energy efficiency non-profit.
Alex Wendling, CFA
Strategic Investment Manager
Alex leads the strategic investing activity for Ochsner Ventures. In this role Alex works to source, diligence, invest, and partner with innovative companies disrupting the healthcare sector. He is also responsible for Ochsner Venture’s portfolio construction and monitoring. Prior to this role, he was an investment specialist with J.P. Morgan’s Private Bank in New Orleans where he was responsible for advising clients in developing and implementing bespoke investment portfolios. Alex joined Ochsner in 2021.
Alex graduated from Tulane University in 2012 with degrees in Finance, Accounting, and Legal Studies. He began his career as an analyst in the energy division of Wells Fargo Corporate and Investment Bank in Houston, TX. He became a Chartered Financial Analyst in 2017 after completing and passing the CFA program curriculum.
Alex is a member of the CFA Society of New Orleans, the Association for Corporate Growth, the Young Leadership Council, and 504ward Foundation. Alex also serves on the board of directors for the non-profit Court Watch NOLA, an advocacy group dedicated to criminal justice reform.
