Dr. Amy Hammons practices family medicine at Ochsner Health in Slidell, Louisiana. She received her medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Medical School in New Orleans, in 1999. She went on to complete her residency at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. She holds a Masters in Medical Management from Tulane University completed in 2023. She has served as physician site lead at the Ochsner Slidell primary care clinic from 2017-2019. Dr. Hammons is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and has been on staff at Ochsner since 2016 and practicing medicine since 2002. Dr. Hammons treats a wide range of typical primary care-urgent care to chronic conditions. Dr. Hammons is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association. "I became a family doctor because I love the variety and challenge of treating all ages and conditions. I also enjoy developing a long term relationship with my patients and becoming part of that patients team working to improve his or her health. I am a proponent of patient education and empowerment and love teaching my patients how they can improve their own health. I have been a Board certified family medicine clinician since 2002.
