Biography
Betty Chung, DO, specializes in hematopathology, molecular genetic pathology and clinical pathology at Ochsner Health. Dr. Chung received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine) in 2011. She completed her anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she served as chief resident. She has a master of public health degree, specializing in molecular and infectious disease epidemiology and minority/urban and global health development from Columbia University. She also earned a master's degree in pharmacology and experimental therapeutics from Boston University School of Medicine.
Dr. Chung completed her fellowships in hematopathology and molecular genetic pathology at Houston Methodist Hospital with required rotations at University of Texas-MD Anderson Cancer Center and Baylor College of Medicine affiliated institutions (Texas Children’s Hospital, Ben Taub County Hospital and Baylor Miraca Cytogenetics).
Dr. Chung is board-certified by the American Board of Pathology and completed her residency in 2016 and final fellowship in 2019. She has been on staff at Ochsner since January 2020.
