Dr. Panunti earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine Washington, D.C. in 1999. She completed her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in endocrinology at Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, LA. Dr. Panunti joined Ochsner Clinic Foundation in 2006 and became System Chair of Endocrinology in 2018.
She has held many leadership roles at Ochsner including Clerkship Director for Medical Specialties, Clerkship Director for Endocrinology, and Program Director for the Ochsner Endocrinology Fellowship. She practices endocrinology at the Ochsner Medical Center New Orleans on Jefferson Highway and at the Gender Affirmation Clinic located at the Tchoupotoulas site. Dr. Panunti initiated the development of endocrine multidisciplinary clinics delivering a team approach to endocrine disorders that may require both medical and surgical treatment.
She specializes in transgender care and helped to develop Ochsners Transgender Patient Care Physician Training Modules, Ochsners EPIC transgender toolkit. Dr. Panunti also authored "Culturally Competent Care of the Transgender Patient," a chapter in the 2015 book entitled "Diversity and Inclusion in Quality Patient Care". Dr. Panunti is board-certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, is certified by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry and holds memberships in the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, World Professional Association of Transgender Health and the Endocrine Society.
