Prior to that, he worked at Cooper University Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as program director of the Colorectal Surgery Residency Program. He currently serves in multiple leadership roles at Ochsner Medical Center, including program director of the Colorectal Surgery Residency Program, surgical director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program and chair of the Operating Room Block/Scheduling Committee. He previously served for three years as medical director of Endoscopy and is an assistant professor at the University of Queensland/Ochsner Clinical School.
Dr. Kann is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS), Association of Program Directors for Colon & Rectal Surgery, Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America and Piedmont Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. In 2019, he served as program chair for the Annual Scientific Meeting of the ASCRS. Dr. Kann is an Associate Examiner for the American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery and serves on the Boards Continuing Certification Committee. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, reviews and textbook chapters and served as lead editor for the textbook Improved Outcomes in Colon and Rectal Surgery. In his free time, he enjoys golf, music and spending time with his family.
