Biography
Dr. Lewis earned her doctorate degree from Loyola University New Orleans in 2025. She actively participates in International Consortium of Circulatory Assist Clinicians (ICCAC), American College of Cardiology (ACC), American Association of Heart Failure Nurses (AAHFN), Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) and Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) to stay updated on medical advancements.
Dr. Lewis has a special interest in her patients’ quality of life. She has completed research to implement a clinical practice guideline for her VAD patients and following up with Palliative Medicine in the outpatient setting.
In addition to her clinical role, Dr. Lewis thoroughly enjoys teaching. She is a professor at Loyola University New Orleans in the following programs: Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice. She is committed to mentoring the next generation of advanced practice providers and bridging the gap between academic preparation and real-world clinical practice. She also teaches Respecting Choices Advanced Care Planning and Shared Decision Making for Serious Illness alongside fellow Ochsner providers. Dr. Lewis has presented at the Louisiana-Mississippi Hospice and Palliative Care Conference and the Alabama Emergency Medicine Conference.
Outside of medicine and teaching, she enjoys decorating and has a new found hobby of flowers and gardening.
