D. Anthony Mazzulla, MD

Dr. Mazzulla was born in Oak Park, Illinois. His interest in eye disease began at an early age. He comes from a family of eye care professionals, having a father and older sister who are optometrists. He obtained his bachelor's degree with honors and his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago as part of the combined medical program, Guaranteed Professional Program Admissions (GPPA). He completed his transitional year internship at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, IL. He went on to complete a three year residency in ophthalmology at the University of Chicago. He came to New Orleans to complete a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Ochsner Clinic Foundation. He joined the staff at Ochsner in 2008. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and he is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is currently involved in national trials for age related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. He has presented several research projects at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and has authored publications in peer reviewed journals. He is the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education for the Department of Ophthalmology. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at LSU. He enjoys teaching the residents and fellows.
