Biography

Eugene Kukuy, MD, is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon at Ochsner Health in Lafayette, Louisiana. Dr. Kukuy brings advanced technical expertise and a patient-center philosophy to the treatment of complex cardiac and thoracic conditions. He offers comprehensive care tailored to meet the distinct medical needs of every patient, with clinical expertise in coronary revascularization, advanced aortic surgery and complex valvular surgery. His practice addresses a variety of acute and chronic conditions, including ischemic heart disease, valvular heart disease and thoracic malignancies. 

Dr. Kukuy earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1997. He completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery - CT surgery malignancies at Cornell University - New York Presbyterian Hospital / Sloan Kettering Center in New York, New York, in 2006. Dr. Kukuy holds his board certification from the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Kukuy maintains an active lifestyle. He enjoys playing guitar and exploring visual arts through photography. He stays active with personal fitness, biking, motorcycling and sailing. Above all he cherishes time spent with his family. Dr. Kukuy is fluent in both English and Russian.
