Biography

Hrishikesh Samant, MD, specializes in gastroenterology at Ochsner Health. Dr. Hrishikesh Samant received his medical degree from Mumbai, India, in 2003. He went on to complete his internship and residency at T N Medical College. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship, followed by a transplant hepatology fellowship, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He is associate professor of gastroenterology and director of hepatology for Louisiana State University Health. Dr. Samant is board-certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and transplant hepatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has been practicing medicine since 2008. Dr. Samant performs diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology procedures including endoscopies and colonoscopies. He has a special clinical interest in liver cancer, rare liver diseases and device technologies. Currently, Dr. Samant serves as the director of Wilson's Disease Center of Excellence at Ochsner. He also serves as director of hepatology at Ochsner Baton Rouge and program director of Ochsner Transplant Hepatology Fellowship.
