Jacob Dowden, MD, specialized in general and Heptao-Pancreato-Biliary surgery at Ochsner Health. He is originally from Scott, Louisiana. He received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and medical degree from LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed an internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He completed a fellowship in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. Dr. Dowden is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Dowden's expertise is in minimally invasive/robotic general surgery including cholecystectomy, inguinal and abdominal wall hernia repairs and minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery. He also has expertise in the surgical treatment of diseases of the liver, pancreas and biliary system/gallbladder. He has been on staff at Ochsner since 2020 and practicing medicine since 2013. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, reading, cooking, watching movies as well as playing golf and tennis.
